Dear Friends and Supporters,
My name is Rathan Duggirala, and I’m a sophomore from Rochester, MN. I am an officer of the Minnesota Junior Academy of Science (MJAS), a group of students recognized for our achievements at the Minnesota State Science & Engineering Fair after years of exploring, researching, and competing in science fairs. Over the past five years, I’ve pursued projects that focus on sustainability and innovation, like creating a biologically derived paint from bacterial pigments.
Participating in the State Science Fair has been a life-changing experience for me. I’ve been mentored by inspiring educators and scientists, introduced to cutting-edge research fields, and connected with peers who share the same excitement for discovery. Some of my best memories come from working on projects late into the night, brainstorming solutions with friends and mentors, and watching our hard work come to life in a project that makes an real impact.
These experiences have shown me what’s possible in science and technology and have strengthened my passion for research. Now, I want to ensure that other students have the same opportunities I’ve had to explore their interests and grow as scientists.
Last year, the Minnesota community came together to save the State Science Fair when a major corporate sponsor withdrew its support. Thanks to this generosity, students like me were able to continue showcasing our work and learning from others. However, it’s clear that we need a more sustainable foundation to keep these opportunities available for future generations.
That’s why I’m asking for your help. Your donation will directly fund:
- Workshops and Seminars: To inspire and educate young scientists.
- Student Scholarships: To support students in sharing their research at major competitions, including ISEF.
- Outreach Programs: To bring STEM opportunities to underserved communities.
