Help more students discover their passion for STEM!

Hi! I am a member of the Minnesota Junior Academy of Science (MJAS), a small group of students who have been recognized for our achievements at Minnesota State Science & Engineering Fair after spending years exploring, researching, and competing in science fair events. I’m writing to get your support for the State Science Fair, so we can make opportunities available for students who are passionate about research.

As far back as I can remember, I have been curious about how the world works, and I was always engrossed in books and TV programs about science. I loved to run little experiments to test my ideas and understanding of the world. As part of this I’ve been involved in science fairs since first grade, learning how to use the scientific method from science fair mentors and others.

Participating in the State Science Fair has opened doors to incredible opportunities. My success at the 2022 State Science Fair gave me confidence that I, as a student researcher, can make a huge impact on humanity. Since then, I have been focused on solving two long standing problems in biochemistry: speeding up the process for custom specific proteins and enzyme selectivity. Progress in these problems which could help us develop new drugs faster, usher in an age of personalized medicine, and make the world a better place.

Through research and the State Science Fair, I’ve been mentored by world-class teachers and researchers, gotten to do graduate level research, and built friendships with peers who share the same enthusiasm for discovery.

I am also passionate about helping young students pursue their curiosity about the world, so they can become the next generation of researchers, and have mentored many students getting involved in research.
